Drake 2B receiver.

I found this receiver on the Nationwide Radio (KE9PQ) website and let Paypal do the rest.  I know very little about these receivers other than the 2B has a great reputation.
A 20 Amp fuse was found installed; the standard fuse is 0.6 Amps--a 0.5 Amp fuse is now installed.  The seller stated it worked, so it was plugged in, antenna and speaker attached.  It does have floor noise but no reception; I suspect it was shaken up during transit.  The tubes all tested well, and they are all Sylvania.  I believe these are all original tubes.

After cleaning the tube sockets and switches, it came to life--sort of.  The preselector had dead spots in the 80 meter band section; after a few hours use, this problem resolved itself.  The same issue was found with the main tuning capacitor at both the upper and lower frequency ends; this also resolved itself with use.   I believe the variable capacitor rotors had become partially insulated from ground during a long period of non-use.  After a day of operation, no major issues.

Testing the BFO and Product Detector, they both work.  SSB is easily tuned!

After a couple of day's testing, this 2B is a keeper!
